Specialised EXPO 2027 "The Urban Age: Towards a Sustainable City".

Location › Malaga (ES) · Date › 2027 · Client › City of Malaga · Conceptor › Masterplan maàpa · Surface › 72km² · Photo › Hauts Mirages

The project proposes two temporal phases: a first phase in 2027 dedicated to the registered world exhibition and a second, longer-term phase allowing for urban growth. This is an opportunity to reflect on an alternative form of territorial planning and the generation of the city. Thus, the ring proposes a structural, technical and traffic system that meets the needs of 2027, while leaving sufficient freedom for further development.

The proposal stems from an analysis of the site, subject to the pressure derived from the dynamics of urban development. The site is composed of: -major motorways, remains of irrigation ditches, ponds and elements related to water supply systems; -an industrial heritage such as the old cork factory -a third landscape, an abandoned or disused landscape, where nature has taken its place.

The project proposes to create a green belt around the city of Malaga, with the exhibition ring taking place within this natural and vegetal continuity and forming two hesmipheres around the Arroyo Merino. The connection of these two hesmispheres forms a ring, forming a large patio, influenced by the Andalusian vernacular habitat, to constitute a real healthy ecosystem.
