Founded in 2019, Maàpa is a Franco-Spanish architecture practice. It was established by the duo of architects Lila Bonneau (FR) et Daniel Hazanas (ES).

Lila Bonneau is a heritage architect and holds a PhD in “Architecture, Urbanism, Landscape and Heritage,” while Daniel Hazanas specializes in “Architecture of Environments.”

The practice stems from the recognition of the complementarity between the two partners and was inspired by the idea of working within specific territories that are meaningful to each of them, in order to contribute to their preservation and to the improvement of their habitability.

Thanks to Lila Bonneau’s dual specialization in heritage and health, the agency has developed expertise in the design and transformation of healthcare environments. At the same time, the team advocates an approach based on a deep understanding of the local context, living environments, and both the tangible and intangible heritage of each situation. In this respect, the team places particular emphasis on the notion of “care”:

-in relation to people and living beings, addressing issues of vulnerability, solidarity, well-being, and health, based on attentive listening to users and a detailed understanding of the socio-economic context and client requirements; -in relation to the environment—whether natural, landscape-based, urban, or built—by seeking responses to environmental concerns, promoting sobriety in both approach and materials, and prioritizing practices focused on the transformation of existing structures while respecting what is already there.

Maàpa engages with all types of projects aimed at contributing to the common good and improving living conditions, from public space design to furniture design, in both urban and rural contexts. In line with these convictions, the practice is involved in graphic design, making/building processes, project management, client advisory services, as well as teaching and research.

Présentation du collectif Maàpa

The Maàpa collective extends to Spain, particularly Andalusia. In addition to Daniel Hazanas and Lila Bonneau, it includes four other members based in Málaga, including two architects and two specialists in architectural practice management.
